Our goal is to present local schools, i.e. people, their research directions, and research traditions specific for certain countries and regions. The specific case is former USSR, where various national electrochemistries coexisted, being sometimes essentially interrelated. In this case, we tried to collect information about people who created local schools, and to present some examples of their less known publications. Of course people often moved from place to place, but we try to assign them to the countries and cities to which they belonged most appropriately.
EUROPE
Our “Triple-E” special Issue of the Journal of Solid State Electrochemistry (Electrochemistry in Eastern Europe, 27 (2023) N7, co-edited with Laszlo Peter) gave rise to corresponding Collection. Historical part of this issue inherits “Electrochemistry in the Divided World” book, and contains the articles concerning electrochemistry in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Marija Mitrović), Bulgaria (Vessela Tsakova), Estonia (Enn Lust and coauthors), Georgia (charge transfer research, Dimitri E. Khoshtariya and coauthors, and manganese electrochemistry, Nikoloz Nioradze), Latvia (Jānis Kleperis, Gunārs Bajārs and coauthors), Moldova (Alexandr Dikusar and coauthors), Poland (Krakowian branch, Katarzyna Skibińska and Piotr Żabiński), Serbia (Nevenka R. Elezovic).
Bulgaria
“The Bulgarian physicochemical tradition and the Institute of Physical Chemistry ‘Academician Rostislaw Kaischew’” (Chemistry: Bulgarian Journal of Science Education. 2016. V. 25. P. 35-67), in Bulgarian, authored by Vessela Tsakova. There is a list of important articles and monographs, as well as information about some legendary members of Bulgarian electrocrystallization school, with a number of photos.

“Natives of the Russian Empire in the laboratory of Jaroslav Heyrovský” (ChemTexts. 2022. V. 8. No 21), authored by Vitalii Yu. Kotov et al. Contains rare information from archives. The same author published the last Heyrovskyi’s letter to Russian colleagues <in Russian, but the letter itself is in English> in Noosfera. 2023. V. 1. P, 270-275.
Georgia
Contributions to the development of chemistry made by Georgian scientists over the last forty years (J. Gen. Chem. USSR. 1961. V. 31. P. 1623-1626), authored by Akakyi Melitonovich Gakhok<h>idze (1909-1964). The author was organic chemist, and the text is more or less formal, but it is interesting to see how national electrochemical advancements (see our red notes) are formulated.

Moldova
“Polarographic school of Academician Yu.S, Lyalikov in Chisinau”, in Russian, authored byYuliya D. Sister. This is essential addition to above-mentioned review on electrochemistry in Moldova, as many details of polarographic research are explained, incl. ac polarography, analysis of organic substances and semiconductors, and polarography with solid electrodes.
