Saratov, a large city located near Volga river at about 850 km to South-East from Moscow. Among numerous industrial companies, battery plant was started in the very beginning of 1930s, which mostly produced alkaline batteries. In late 1950s, applied research institute of power sources was established on the basis of this plant.
