Frumkin’s early texts can be found in the Bulletine of Experimental Physics and Elementary Mathematics (Vestnik opytnoi fiziki i elementarnoi matematiki), a popular scientific journal published in Odessa, that existed during 1886-1917 period. Two earliest Frumkin’s publications (1911 and 1912) had been solutions of math problems related to cubic equations, and then his notes related to physics (1914, 1915) appeared. The presented texts include popularization, discussions, prefaces, book reviews, and various introductory remarks.
To separate scientific discussions and comments in scientific journals from other texts, we use the marks * (in case of a single comment) and ** (in case of continued discussion).

This book (210 p.) was translated from German by A.N. Frumkin. - Discussion * with L.K. Lepin’ “Interfacial oxides on carbon and adsorption of dissolved substances” // Zhurnal Fizicheskoi Khimii. 1934. V. 5. P. 276-283, in Russian. Lidiya Karlovna Lepin’ (Liepina) (1891-1985) belonged to N.A. Shilov’s school, they were dealing with adsorption on carbons starting from WWI, in respect to gas masks. She worked in Riga after WWII. Contradiction under discussion is Shilov’s attempt to give very detailed structure of the bonded oxygen, and to reduce all adsorption phenomena to ion exchange. Frumkin’s explanations are given at P. 279-281. There is also Lepin’ answer to Hugo Rudolph Kruyt (1882-1959), colloid chemist from Netherland (P. 283), who participated in the 1932 conference where this discussion took place.
