3rd Meeting on Electrochemistry, 1950

This meeting arranged on Dec 19-25, 1950, is known by terribly shameful criticism of Frumkin’s basic direction in electrode kinetics, with simultaneous rude statements about some special role of Russian scientists and overemphasis on foreign scientists.

All the articles listed below are published in Russian in Proceedings of the meeting on electrochemistry (Moscow, December 1950). Moscow: Acad. Sci. Publ., 1953. Comparing Introduction published in 1953 with official Meeting resolution adopted in 1950, one can notice some positive change in the tone (especially in respect to “underestimated role of Russian scientists”, which was purely political issue). However, the contradictions related to scientific aspects are still mentioned in 1953, and cover a wide range of basic tipics: hydrogen evolution mechanism, “double layer” structure, “absolute potentials”, spatial separation of anodic and cathodic processes (in respect to corrosion, and electrocrystallization theory.
