Personalia

This page is arranged alphabetically. Countries are indicated according to long-term affiliations. For ‘multidisciplinary’ scientists, only electrochemical research fields are mentioned, but other fields are typically described in attached biographic publications. We use * below to indicate that a brief biographic text can be found in Electrochemical Dictionary (where information about much higher number of people can be found, not about electrochemists exclusively; typically some Refs to the most important publications are included). There is essentially more selective “Pillars of modern electrochemistry” (Interface. 2008. V. 17. P. 31-39), which starts from XVI(!) century, but mentions very few people from XX century as well. One more collection of similar type is named Corrosion doctors. There is also ‘Electrochemical contributions’ series of short notes in Electrochem. Sci. Adv. (the available links are included).

We believe that all contributions (more or less particular) retaining their significance for decades are important for electrochemistry as a whole, and many people should be added to this list step-by-step. Our goal is to collect the available scientific biographies, with as many professional details as possible. We pay special attention to ‘forgotten names’. Sometimes these names belong to people who played a prominent role in the community due to their activities in journals and societies. As far as possible, we select the texts in English, but in some cases only the text in different national languages can be found.
